Ingredients:


- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 2 large eggs

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon baking soda

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate, whichever you prefer)

- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)





Instructions:


1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.


2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.


3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the mixture is creamy.


4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.


5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients in the large mixing bowl, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies tough.


6. Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using), distributing them evenly throughout the cookie dough.


7. Using a cookie scoop or a spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie to allow for spreading.


8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown. The centers may still look slightly soft, but they will firm up as the cookies cool.


9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on it for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Note: You can adjust the amount of chocolate chips and nuts according to your preference. If you want extra-chewy cookies, you can chill the dough in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight before baking.
